White Sox continue long ball assault, Buehrle’s losses no hitter in the 6th, Chicago beats Pirates 8-2

Game 72 Recap-

The Chicago White Sox hit 3 home runs and veteran RH Mark Buehrle(4-6,4.28) no hit the Pittsburgh  Pirates for 6 innings, propelling the club to a 8-2 win. Backup C Toby(2 run) Hall(1st HR since June 2006), OFs Carlos(solo) Quentin & Brian(solo) Anderson also hit home runs.  Pirates DH Jose Bautista hit his own solo shot to break up the no hit bid.

Pirates veteran LH Tom Gorzelanny(5-6,6.59) continued his season long slump. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 5 hits and 4 runs with 4 walks and 4 strike outs. RH Long man Tyler Yates(2-0,4.01) pitched 2 innings and was touched for 4 more runs.(3 earned). Buehrle was outstanding, over 8 innings, the Pirates had 4 hits and plated 1 run, he mixed in 2 walks with 3 strikeouts.

Chicago was already comfortably ahead in the 7th 4-1 but added 3 runs vs Yates. DH JIm Thome singled in a run & 1b Nick Swisher  doubled in 2 more. Pirates 2b Luis Rivas singled in a run in the 8th for a 7-2 score. The White Sox added another run on a throwing error in the 8th to close the scoring at 8-2.

Star of the Game- 

Buehrle - 2 runs over 8 is hard to top

Pirates Notes- 

Bautista has homers in 2 consecutive games & 3rd in 4 games….club only had 4 hits…With regular 3b Bautista DH-ing, Chris Gomez played 3b and was 1 for 3
