Game 63 Recap-
The Pittsburgh Pirates scored all 6 runs in 2 innings and it was enough as they defeated the Arizona Dbacks, 6-4 Sunday in the heat at PNC Park. 3b Jose Bautista(rbi double), C Raul Chavez(rbi single) and SS Jack Wilson(sac fly) all contributed in the 5 run 4th. However, LF Jason Bay’s two run double was the topper.
This season’s Pirates success story, LH SP Phil Dumatrait(3-3,3.44) pitched a good game in exhausting heat.(90+ game temp) He lasted 5 2/3 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 runs with 2 walks and 3 Ks. 4 relievers followed to get the game to closer Matt Capps,(13 saves,2.20) who earned his 14th save on the season.
The Dbacks offense consisted of 2 home runs(5th inning solo shot by 3b Mark Reynolds & another 2 run in the 8th) and a 2nd inning passed ball. LH Doug Davis(2-3,4.88) did not last thru the big 4th and had a bad stat line:3 2/3 innings, 7 hits, 5 runs & 4 walks.
