Game 113 Recap-
The Pittsburgh Pirates ran into one of the best pitchers in MLB Tuesaday night and he was on, RH Brandon Webb(16-4,2.93) won his 16h game, leading the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 3-1 victory at Chase Field. The former Cy Young winner pitched his 3rd complete game, allowing 9 hits and striking out 4, while allowing only one run. Webb’s sinker was on all night and the game speed showed it… 1 hour and 55 minutes!
Pirates LH Zach Duke(4-10,5.13) picked the wrong night to pitch, but kept his team in the game with a strong performance. Over 7 innings, he allowed 4 hits and 2 runs(2 run homer by CF Chris Young in 3rd) with 6 hits and 1 walk. Newcomer RH Craig Hansen(1-4,6.75) allowed a run in an inning on a ground rule double by 1b Connor Jackson.
The Pirates staged a mini rally vs Webb in the 9th. 2b Freddy Sanchez doubled then 1b Doug Mientkiewicz singled his home. CF Nate McLouth beat out an infield hit and the Pirates had the tying runs on. C Ryan Doumit advanced both runners with a grounder to first, a base hit would tie the game. Unfortunately,Webb struck out OFs Brandon Moss and Jason Michaels swinging to end the game and give the Dbacks a 3-1 win.

After his rough start Monday(3 runs over 1 1/3 innings), RH Yoslan Herrera was optioned to Double A. RH RP Romulo Sanchez(1-0,3.00, save) was recalled to fill his roster spot…Mientkiewicz, 2b Freddy Sanchez and CF Nate McLouth had 2 hits apiece… Lineup was back to the normal NL style with the pitcher 9th and SS Jack Wilson hitting 8th… 3b Andy Laroche was out with a thumb injury, he is scheduled to miss Wednesday’s game and is probable for Friday
