Game 92 Recap-
St Louis RH Kyle Lohse(11-2,3.39) was outstanding over 7 innings and the Cardinals got home runs from RF Ryan Ludwick & CF Rick Ankiel, helping them beat the Pittsburgh Pirates,6-0 at PNC Park Friday. Lohse has won 8 straight and has not lost since May 9th(12 starts) while giving up 2 runs or fewer in 8 of 10 starts! “This was the one where I don’t know if I’m the proudest, but I’m the happiest about the way I went out and pitched because I didn’t really feel like I had the best stuff,” Lohse said. “When you bear down and make pitches like I was able to, it feels really good to get the win.”
Lohse allowed 6 hits(1 extra base hit, double by CF Nate McLouth) and walked 1 with 3 Ks. Veteran Pirates LH Zach Duke(4-6,4.40) was not bad but gave up some big hits. C Yadier Molina doubled in 2 runs in the 3rd & Ankiel homered to make it 4-0. Ludwick followed with his solo shot in the 4th and ended Duke’s run tally. Over 6 innings, he allowed 10 hits & 5 runs, while walking 1 & striking out 4. Ankiel’s 7th inning rbi single closed out the scoring.
