Game 141 Recap-

The San Francisco Giants used a big 5 run 7th inning to rally and defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday night in California.  Pittsburgh built a 4-1 lead and San Francisco exploded for 5 runs in the 7th, hi-lighted by 1b Scott McClain’s 2 run homer. The win marked the Giants first win vs the Pirates at AT&T Park since June 8,2006 and only their 3rd win in 17 games vs Pittsburgh.

Pirates LH Paul Maholm(8-8,3.74) pitched great over 6 innings(97 pitches), allowing 7 hits and 1 run with 5 Ks and a walk. Only a homer to veteran 3b Rich Aurilia in the 5th scored vs the lefty. RH Denny Bautista(4-2,5.40) got into serious trouble and after a 2 run single and wild pitch tied the game at 4, LH John Grabow gave up a two run shot to McClain to make it 6-4 Giants.

RH Matt Cain(8-11,3.75) battled for 6+innings(113 pitches(70 for strikes), in 6 2/3 innings, he allowed 10 hits and 4 runs with 2 Ks and a walk. 3 relievers kept the team in the game and surprise closer RH Brian Wilson(4.04) went 1 2/3 innings to get his 37th save.

Star of the Game-

McClain- homer, 2 rbi– not bad for a 36 yr old call up! His 2nd homer in 4 games. His 1st homer made him the oldest position player to hit his 1st ML homer since 1955

Pirates Notes-

Sanchez was 4 for 5, Andy Laroche and McLouth had 3 hits… Rookie Luis Cruz was at SS and went 0 for 2 with a run…Pirates are trying, folks! Stole 4 bases
