Pirates Journal

Spring baseball is here and the Pirates kicked off their spring season with a 9-5 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.  Charlie Morton didn’t allow a run in the first inning of his start but then he gave up two in the second.  Brad Lincoln gave a run in his two innings as well while Daniel McCutchen (three earned runs) and Justin Thomas (four unearned runs) didn’t pitch so well.

Garrett Atkins doubled, drove in one and scored.  Alex Presley drew two walks.  There weren’t too many highlights because the Pirates were held to just five hits.

The Pirates play the Rays again but this time at home.  Kevin Correia gets the start while Brian Burres, Joel Hanrahan and Joe Beimel all see some action on the mound.
